“Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage” will probably no longer be in theaters in 2021, but only in January 2022. But what does that mean for the other blockbusters that are due to open in 2021, such as “Dune”, “Eternals” or the new "James Bond"?

Just a few days ago, Studio Sony postponed the US launch of “Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage” from September 24th, 2021 to October 15th, 2021, which was not worth any news in Germany because the Marvel film in this country anyway should not start until October 21st. But it will probably not stop with this postponement - and this time the German date is also affected: “Venom 2” will probably not start until 2022.

This is reported by the US magazine Vulture. Accordingly, "Venom 2" is to be postponed to January 21, 2022, the current date of "Morbius". For Germany, this would mean either a start on January 20 or January 27, 2022.

As Vulture writes, the matter should already be wrapped up, which is underlined by the fact that not a single word about “Venom 2” could be heard at the current film trade fair CinemaCon, even if Sony with the panels on “Ghostbusters: Legacy ”and“ Spider-Man 3: No Way Home ”caused exclamation marks. So the first postponement of just three weeks was just a kind of omen.

According to Vulture, Sony wants to wait until CinemaCon is over and then make the postponement of “Let There Be Carnage” official. At the fair, the matter was deliberately not announced in order not to offend the cinema operators, who were already battered by the corona pandemic.

According to Vulture, it doesn't currently look like the postponement of “Venom 2” will trigger a chain reaction. The only exception is Disney, where it has been heard in the past few days that the start of “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings” is being watched very closely and that any postponement of “Eternals” depends on the success or failure of the previous film power.

Both "Top Gun 2: Maverick" and "Dune" should stay on their current start dates and no further postponement is possible for "James Bond - No Time to Die". Not only was a date for the world premiere recently announced, but the studios and producers have also already poured a lot of money into marketing, only to have to postpone the film three times. “It feels like 'Bond' is ready to be released. MGM is a studio with only one film. I don't think they can hold it back for another six months. "
