In the four seasons of Money Heist, we have seen various characters march. With a series full of action and one of the biggest robberies in history underway, it is not surprising that there are deaths, but nobody expected the farewell of the previous installment: the goodbye of Nairobi hurt. And a lot. There are still those who wonder if it was of any use and, as TVLine has been able to collect in a press conference with the team members, the creators say yes and we will see it in season 5 of Money Heist.
The Nairobi personality was not made for the war that we encountered in the last season. She wasn't supposed to be here. I think this adds momentum to our characters as it would have been too complex otherwise
The one who speaks is the producer and director Jesus Colmenar in an international meeting with journalists that TVLine collects. The fact that Nairobi did not quite fit in with the events of season five adds to the fact that they needed a dose of tension to the already loaded fiction. "We kill our characters and that adds tension. It is a good thing not to be able to know who is going to die and when it will happen," Colmenar continues.
Álvaro Morte, who plays the Professor, agrees with the producer. For him, a death as unexpected, tragic, and heartfelt as the one in Nairobi means a lot to the production. "It adds a dose of reality that anything can happen. And it adds an element of surprise," says the actor. It was certainly one of the most surprising moments of season 4 of Money Heist and many still wonder why they had to get rid of Nairobi precisely.
It is something that Úrsula Corberó commented at the meeting: "I don't understand it either. I had few friends in there and they kill the beast." The relationship between Tokio and the character of Alba Flores was very close and if there is someone who is going to miss her partner, that is the warrior. Surely the anger she feels at the loss of her will be one of the keys to the new episodes.
The first part of season 5 of Money Heist premieres on Netflix on September 3. The final stretch will arrive a few months later, specifically on December 3.
